Offshore wind installer Havfram has signed a contract with Iberdrola to install 21 Siemens Gamesa wind turbines at the Windanker project in the Baltic Sea off Germany.
The contract, scheduled to begin in the summer of 2026, covers transportation and installation support, which will be carried out by one of Havfram's new NG20000X-HF wind turbine installation vessels.
The Windanker station is located in the German Baltic Sea, and its production capacity will reach 315 megawatts.
Most of the renewable electricity generated by the new 15 MW Siemens Gamesa turbines will be marketed through long-term power purchase agreements (PPA) in the German market.
“Iberdrola is one of the most experienced developers on the market and has demonstrated a strong commitment to renewable energy solutions. Currently, they have 1,793 MW of offshore wind capacity in operation and another 3,000 MW under construction. Havfram is proud to support "Iberdrola's offshore wind ambitions and efforts to mitigate climate change."
Windar Renovables has been awarded a contract to manufacture 21 transitional parts for Windanker Marine in 2023.
Windanker will strengthen the Baltic Hub, which will add more than 1,100MW of installed offshore wind capacity, which includes the 350MW Wikinger and the 476MW Baltic Eagle.
Earlier in May, the first of a total of 50 wind turbines was installed at the Baltic Eagle station, which is scheduled to become operational by the end of 2024.
